Scottish Fold cats are a breed of feline that is recognized for their distinctively folded ears, which are the result of a genetic mutation.
These lovely cats are known for their friendly and affectionate personalities, as well as their playful nature, which makes them ideal pets for families. Scottish Folds come in a range of colors, coat length, and patterns. Their round faces and large eyes give them an endearing and adorable appearance that is sure to capture the hearts of cat lovers everywhere.
Did you know that all Scottish Folds can be traced back to a lone cat with folded ears discovered on a Scottish farm in 1961? A shepherd named William Ross procured one of her folded eared kittens and breeding it to a British Shorthair was the beginning of the development of the breed. Today, British Shorthairs and American Shorthairs are approved for outcrossing and improving the breed. Litters are made up of both folded and straight eared individuals. Both folded ear and straight eared types are delightful.
Our commitment to the preservation of the breed and well-being of our cats begins at birth and continues until they are placed with their forever families. Our parents are imported and come from championship bloodlines. Our Cats participate in Cat Fanciers Association (CFA) and ACFA shows, ensuring our parent cats meet breed guidelines.
Health Of Scottish Folds
A healthy cat is a happy cat. We know that a happy cat results in happy pet parents. We test all our breeding cats for the fold gene and only straight eared cats are bred to folded ear cats. This insures your kitten will not be challenged by health issues from uneducated or unethical breeding. Before you invest time, love, and your hard earned money in purchasing a Scottish Fold cat or kitten, ask the breeder to provide you with the results of the parents' genetic testing for the fold gene....proof that they are breeding in an educated and ethical manner. This will insure you are not only purchasing a healthy kitten but also help you identify scammers, as most will not be able to supply this information. Our cats are also tested for 49 other genetic health conditions. Parents are negative for Polycystic Kidney Disease (PKD), Feline Immunodeficiency Virus (FIV), and Feline Leukemia Virus.
Happiness Of Our Cats
In our home our cats are treated like family. We raise them alongside our dogs and expose them to children and visitors to help them build confidence. From and early age kittens are introduced to the bath and nail clipping. Our cats are raised cage-free and fed a high-quality diet. We take pride in keeping our home environment clean and comfortable for our feline friends, with air purifiers and supplemental heaters on each level. We use various litter systems to fit the needs and preferences of each cat, as we understand that they are all unique individuals.
